Masonry is the world’s first and largest fraternal organization. It is guided by the enduring belief that each man has a responsibility to make the world a better place. For 300 years, Freemasonry has enhanced and strengthened the character of individual men by providing opportunities for fellowship, charity, and the search for truth – within ourselves and the larger world.
Bakersfield Lodge’s mission is to promote personal growth and improve the lives of others. We take responsibility for the well-being of our brothers, our families, and the community as a whole. We value respect, kindness, tolerance, and our differences – religious, ethnic, cultural, generational, and educational, and strive for harmony in our individual lives, in our lodge, and in the global community.
As a lodge, we strive to be active in our community. We have various charitable and educational events throughout the year, as well as social occasions. Some events are for members only, but many include our families.
To be good and true is the first lesson we are taught in Masonry as Truth is one of the essence and foundation of all Masonic Virtues. In order to be a really good man, a person needs to be true to himself and to others particularly his brethren in Freemasonry as it is not enough to talk about being true but we also need to practice what we preach. Thus, being sincere thru our own actions and also to others promotes peace and harmony which is highly essential in maintaining an attitude of good will and also ensuring that we are living our life as an upright member of society as we all thrive to be better man. Most of all we should always be squaring our actions and always be on the Level with everyone specially our brethren in Freemasonry.
In Freemasonry, a leader is not simply someone who holds a position of authority, but someone who exemplifies the profound values of wisdom, strength, beauty, and compassion, all intertwined with the humble spirit that unites us all.
A leader in Freemasonry is guided by wisdom, not only through accumulated knowledge, but also through a deep understanding of the principles and teachings of our ancient fraternity. They continuously seek wisdom from various sources, embracing diverse perspectives, and sharing their insights with others.
Strength, both physical and mental, is a fundamental quality of a Freemason leader. They possess the resilience to overcome obstacles, the courage to stand up for what is just, and the ability to inspire and motivate others through their unwavering determination.
Beauty, in all its forms, is cherished by a Freemason leader. They appreciate the transformative power of art, culture, and aesthetics, and strive to create an environment that fosters creativity, inspiration, and personal growth.
Compassion flows through the heart of a Freemason leader. They demonstrate empathy, understanding, and kindness towards all beings, and actively contribute to the welfare of their community. They lead by example, showing others the importance of compassion and encouraging acts of benevolence.
Above all, humility is the cornerstone of leadership in Freemasonry. A leader recognizes their own limitations and acknowledges the value of every individual’s voice. They listen attentively, learn from others, and create a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone’s contributions are respected.
Aspiring to be a leader in Freemasonry means embracing the power of wisdom, strength, beauty, and compassion, all rooted in humility. It is a transformative journey that requires dedication, self-reflection, and a commitment to serving others. By embodying these qualities, a leader in Freemasonry can make a positive impact on themselves, their fellow brethren, and society as a whole.
Together Brethren!
My Brothers, as we start this year, let us focus and endeavor toward what is ahead, continue on toward our goal and forget what is behind. May we always practice brotherly love and always remember to regard the whole human species as one family, created by one almighty parent. This principle, Masonry unites us all. May all of us meet all of our needs this year and may we continue to receive the Great Architect Of The Universe’s blessings.
Bakersfield Lodge membership is open to men 18 and older who meet the qualifications and standards of character and intention, and who believe in a Supreme Being. Men of all ethnic and religious backgrounds are welcome.
One of Freemasonry’s customs is not to solicit members – men must seek membership on their own initiative. Anyone is welcome to request information about the fraternity.
If you are interested in applying for membership to our lodge, now is a good time to start. Please contact us to schedule a visit during an event, or request more information.
